I've had a hectic few days and am already looking forward to this weekend, which I'll spend visiting friends in D.C.. The National Cherry Blossom Festival is scheduled for Saturday but I think the flowers haven't fared so well with the unseasonable temperatures.
Knitting setbacks aplenty around these parts. I finished Ms. Marigold with EZ's sewn bindoff but I should have known better than to get fussy. This time-intensive method yields a *very* stretchy bindoff (great for around the hips) that when used in the unstructured environment of Ms. Marigold creates something awfully close to a ruffled collar. I'll try some creative sewing and post photos next week. It may be wearable still.
I started a new sweater Friday night using some of the spoils from the Knit Happens online sale. Alchemy's Sanctuary yarn is wonderful to knit and by Sunday night I was happy to see I'd been making quick progress:
(Color not accurate. Imagine a mysteriously true pewter.)
Unfortunately, I had not been able to arrive at the correct stitch count using the pattern as printed. I thought it might be due to user-error, a mishandling of yarn overs, so what you see above is actually a creative interpretation (ptbl anyone?).
On Monday I had the good sense to email Lauren, the designer, who very promptly let me know that there had been a misprint...Aha! That's where that missing stitch went! Initially, I planned to swatch the corrected stitch pattern then decide whether to continue in my version or start over but I haven't had a moment to knit this week (no wonder I'm cranky). Now I'm leaning towards starting fresh. I love the yarn and the cardigan, why not?

In cycling news, I picked up a pair of Descente Bliss Bikapri knickers. My favorite cycling shorts are wool knickers by Ibex so these should be a nice lighter alternative. I don't mind 8 inch inseam shorts but they are so inexplicably rare. Who wears short shorts?
Glad to hear you found your missing stitch. So frustrating! I hope it gets better from here on in, and you have lots of time to knit.
I noticed too that all of the cycling shorts are getting shorter. That's great that you found a longer pair. I will have to check them out. Now, if only it would finally get warm enough to ride!

Argh - but it's an interesting result!
